‘All different, all welcome’ – No Outsiders is key to our school and fully embedded. It encapsulates diversity, prepares children for life in Modern Britain through age appropriate discussions about the protected characteristics: sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, gender, religion or beliefs, gender reassignment, age, race or ethnicity, and marriage or civil partnership
We teach No Outsiders in two ways and both are impactful. Each term, each class investigates a picture book from our No Outsiders book spine – these books focus on themes linked to the protected characteristics and children respond in a variety of ways: using oracy, drama, writing or dance.
Every Thursday we hold a No Outsiders assembly. These special assemblies use videos, photographs, news articles or real-life events to promote discussion and responses from our pupils.
Since launching No Outsiders in September 2022 it has had an exceptional impact on our whole school community.
