Through our ‘We are change-makers’ curriculum aim we inspire children to make positive change on a local, national and global scale. We keep up to date with current affairs through our ‘Tuesday Newsday’, assemblies and subscription to First News.
Each term, the winning house team are rewarded with a treat – but also use their win to make positive change. They decide on a local, national or global charity to fundraise for during the following term. So far this term they have supported:
-Autumn Term (Yorkshire Air Ambulance)
-Spring Term (Shelter)
-Summer Term (World Wildlife Fund)
Our curriculum plans opportunities to grow as global citizens. For example, within geography pupils in Key Stage 1 take part in a beach-clean and Y5/6 pupils fundraise for Water Aid as part of their work on rivers.
Alongside these planned experiences, we are react to events nationally. For example fundraising for earthquake appeals.
